Visiting a church can be uncomfortable, but we want to assure you that we are real people, just like you. Jesus has made a difference in our lives, and we want to help you know, love, and worship him. We trust these short descriptions of our church will help make you more comfortable.
Our Sunday services are an encouraging time of worship, prayer, and expositional preaching.
In our singing together, we seek to emphasize the great truths of God and the gospel through the best hymns and songs of the past and present. Our intent is that the instruments serve to support the joyous and reverent singing of the congregation.
Fellowship is a significant part of our gatherings on Sundays before and after the morning worship services with coffee, tea, and snacks.
A nursery is provided for children up to age three. During the morning and evening services we encourage families to sit and worship together.
There are currently three Sunday School classes.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, and that it is the supreme and final authority in all matters of life, faith, and practice. We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God and should be interpreted according to their normal literal and grammatical-historical meaning.
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three supernatural persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man, without ceasing to be God, so that he might reveal God and redeem the sinful human race. We believe that He died on the cross, was buried, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and now sits at the Father’s side interceding on behalf of all believers.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the promised Divine Teacher who indwells, guides, empowers, and sanctifies believers.
We believe that the human race was created in the image and likeness of God but we have rebelled against God and thus alienated from God with no possible means of recovery in our strength.
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to all people by grace, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins, and received by repentance, confession, and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.
We believe in the establishment and continuance of the local church as clearly taught and defined in the New Testament. We function as an autonomous congregational body with membership solely of believers. We recognize and practice the two ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Paul and Debbie Lavender came to Grace Baptist on Easter Sunday, 2022. Although Utah may be new to them, the ministry is not.
Pastor Paul brings around 40 years of pastoral experience from various locations in the US and Canada. He enjoys connecting with people on the golf course or over some good food and coffee.
Debbie loves her grandchildren, reading, and occasionally a puzzle. She has written discipleship materials for women and frequently ministers through teaching and playing the piano. God has graciously given them 47 years of marriage.
They are excited to explore Utah and connect with the people of Carbon County.
